Isabelle Huppert: Woman of Many Faces, commissioned by Ronald Chammah and Jeanne Fouchet-Nahas, a photography show that, after being presented at the Museum of Modern Art, in New York, travelled internationally to diverse artistic institutions and has already been seen by over a million people, will open on November 18 th at the MU.SA – Museum of the Arts of Sintra, in the presence of the actress and artists with whom she worked.

Isabelle Huppert: Woman of Many Faces gathers more than 100 photographs, video-portraits and video- installations from various artists, from diverse generations and countries, including Henri Cartier-Bresson, Nan Goldin, Robert Frank, Helmut Newton, Cindy Sherman, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Robert Wilson, Antoine d’Agata, Raymond Depardon, Robert Doisneau, Josef Koudelka, Annie Leibovitz and Herb Ritts.

Huppert’s demanding, dense and audacious interpretations, both in cinema and in the theatre, are reflected in this diverse collection of portraits, celebrating a prolific and awarded career, which, in the field of theatre, was distinguished with the 2017 Honorary Molière Award, the national prize for French Theatre.

The words of Belgian theatre director Ivo van Hove about Isabelle Huppert, during the Molière Awards ceremony, are crystal clear accurate: “She can be naked, vulnerable, fragile, but when she acts, it’s like she is in the eye of the storm, where all is silence.”
