Cover musician of intervention music, Francisco Fanhais got in the seminar with ten years and was ordained priest at 23.
Through music, Fanhais became on of the most active voices of the "progressive catholics" that, since the famous letter by D. António Ferreira Gomes, Oporto Bishop, to Salazar in 1958, fought against Salazar's dictatorship. In 1969, Fanhais releases his debut album, Cantilenas, and appears on the cover of the magazine Mundo da Canção. On June the 9th, 1995, he was chosen as an Official of the Order of Freedom.
