Writer and director

Writer and director Jonathan Littell was born in New York in 1967, growing up in the United States and France. His first novel, The Kindly Ones, was written in french and published in 2006, being edited in 31 countries and winning prestigious literary awards the Prix Goncourt and the Grand Prix du Roman de L'Académie Française. Since then, he has published investigative articles about several conflicts (in Georgia, Congo, South Sudan and Syria) for publications like Le Monde, The Guardian, The London Review of Books, amongst others, as well as a collection of critical essays about Francis Bacon, Tryptych. As a director he premiered his first documentary feature Wrong Elements at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.His most recent work, Un Vieille Histoire: Roman, a  sort of narrative multiplication in seven chapters, will be published in Portugal by Dom Quixote.
