AMERICAN UTOPIA: The new album by DAVID BYRNE to be released in March

David Byrne, a guest of the LEFFEST in 2009 and member of its Official Selection Jury, releases on March 9th his first solo album in 14 years, American Utopia.

With a first single and animated video already revealed (Everybody's Coming to My House, co-written with Brian Eno, a longtime collaborator), American Utopia is composed by a set of songs which are sincere—the title is not ironic, assures Byrne. The title refers not to a specific utopia, but rather to our longing, frustration, aspirations, fears, and hopes regarding what could be possible, what else is possible. The description, the discontent and the desire—I have a feeling that is what these songs touch on.

American Utopia
will be followed by an extensive tour (including a show in Lisbon on July 11th, at the EDP Cool Jazz Festival) which will feature the most ambitious show I've done since the shows that were filmed for Stop Making Sense.
