BASQUIAT before the fame through the eye of SARA DRIVER

This year, LEFFEST presents Sara Driver’s new documentary, Boom for real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat, that focuses on the rise of that celebrated artist  in the bustling New York of the 70’s and 80s.

With only two featured films, Sleepwalk (1986) and When the Pigs Fly (1993), Sara Driver is a perplexing figure from New York's underground scene of movie theater. She produced two of Jim Jarmusch's most iconic films, Permanent Vacation (1980) and Stranger Than Paradise (1984), in which she also participated as an actress.

In 2015, with presented a preliminary twenty-minute version of this documentary, which at the time created a great expectation that we can now fully enjoy.

This session will be followed by a conversation with the director, on Saturday the 18th, at Espaço Nimas, 21.00.
