Back
Widely recognized as one of the most important and influential artists in contemporary art, director and photographer, member of the Jury of LEFFEST in 2009, Cindy Sherman will have a huge retrospective at the National Portrait Gallery, in London, which opens on the 27th of June.

Titled Cindy Sherman, the exhibition will feature Sherman’s works from the mid-1970s, when she began her career, to the present day.

Throughout her career, the american artist has been focusing on the exploration of the tension between the construction of contemporary identity and the nature of representation, through the manipulation of her own appearence drawn from cultural sources, including cinema, advertising, fashion and TV.

Lately, Cindy Sherman has been doing experiments in digital face manipulation (with her face) and she shares them often on her personal Instagram account.

The LEFFEST’09 also dedicated one of its CinemART sections to Cindy Sherman where it was screened her only feature film, Office Killer (1997).
