WIILEM DAFOE, whom the Berlinale recognized with a lifetime achievement Honorary Golden Bear in its latest edition, and whom was again nominated for a Oscar this year, has been a regular presence at LEFFEST.
Fantastic Wes Anderson
Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animation Isle of Dogs will do the opening of Berlin Film Festival on the15th of February. It is Anderson’s return to Berlin, where he was awarded the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize in 2012, for Grand Budapest Hotel.
Jonathan Demme – A Dedication
Jonathan Demme, to whom LEFFEST paid a tribute in 2015, beyond the great and eclectic body of work he left, was always a great enthusiast of the films by other directors, about which he always spoke in a very passionate way. P.T. Anderson, who was a great admirer (it was a reciprocal admiration) dedicates him his latest opus, Phantom Thread.
J.M. Coetzee's reading at LEFFEST
J.M. Coetzee, Nobel Prize in Literature, will publish next March Siete cuentos morales (it will be firstly released in a Spanish edition at El Hilo de Ariadna). The writer has attended LEFFEST for several times and in the year 2011 he shared an unforgettable reading with writers Don DeLillo, Siri Hustvedt and Paul Auster, in a full ‘Amphiteatro de Chimica da Escola Politécnica’.
AMERICAN UTOPIA: The new album by DAVID BYRNE to be released in March
David Byrne, a guest of the LEFFEST in 2009 and member of its Official Selection Jury, releases on March 9th his first solo album in 14 years, American Utopia.
ROOM TO DREAM: DAVID LYNCH's memoir out in June
David Lynch, who was a guest of the LEFFEST in its first edition (2007), releases in June, through Random House, his highly antecipated memoir, Room to Dream: A Life in Art.
