PETER BROOK

Back
A seminal figure of modern theatre – arguably the greatest living director – he has enjoyed a notable career which also covers opera, writing and film.

His approach to the craft, characterised by an unvarnished search for essence, has been a beacon for many generations of artists. He is known for his adaptations of Shakespeare.

LEFFEST will present a full retrospective of his film work (such as adaptations of Duras and William Golding) and a performance of Battlefield, a play based on The Mahabharata, which first enjoyed a memorable adaptation by Brook in the 80s.

Peter Brook will take part in a conversation with Marie-Hélène Estienne, moderated by Tiago Rodrigues, artistic director of D. Maria II National Theatre, on November 24th at 5.30pm.
