It's the 22nd of December. Sixteen years have passed since the Romanian revolution and, in a small town, a retired man named Piscoci is preparing himself to spend another Christmas alone. Manescu, a history teacher, tries to keep up with his debts. Jderescu, the owner of a local television post, does not seem very interested in the upcoming holidays. For him, the time to face history has come. Along with Manescu and Piscoci, he is trying to figure out the answer for the question the past sixteen years had not been able to respond: "Was there or wasn’t there a revolution in their hometown?"

Corneliu Porumboiu (Vaslui, 1975) is a prominent name in the Romanian contemporary cinema landscape. After winning the Caméra d’Or with 12:08 East of Bucharest (2006), his following films confirmed his talent as a director and a storyteller. Marked by a certain realistic will and a strong political sense, Porumboiu’s cinema manages to explore Romania’s historical memory in a comical, nonsensical way.
