Far from the rural life of his past, John now lives in California with his partner, Eric, and their adopted daughter, Monica. John's father, a headstrong and conservative man, has been living alone on the farm where John grew up. When signs of dementia begin to manifest, John decides to bring him West, hoping that he and his sister can help their father find a new home closer to them. Against his father’s refusal to change his way of life and a growing clash between both of their worlds, John must face his old wounds, still in need to be healed. Falling is award-winning actor Viggo Mortensen’s directorial debut, a thoughtful exploration of the modern fractures of a contemporary family and the obstacles that one may have to face on the road to acceptance and forgiveness.
