Hold Me Tight

A film by Mathieu Amalric

Back
An adaptation of the play Je Reviens de loin by Claudine Galea, Hold me Tight presents the mysterious story of Clarisse, a woman who seems to contemplate the idea of abandoning her husband and children. What has led Clarisse to leave her family? What has happened with the family after that event? Are we standing before memories, projections or lived experiences? The film builds up on all these questions by means of a vertiginous narrative permeated by phantoms, telescoping effects, echoes, overlaps, flashbacks and flashforwards. Coated in melancholy, Hold me Tight unveils in a melodrama about loss, whose inscrutable – and, sometimes, delirious – nature finds its only chance of grieve and overcoming in imagination and memory.
