Leda, a lonely English teacher, decides to take a vacation in a coastal town in southern Italy, but her peaceful days are disrupted when she comes across a family of strangers. Maggie Gyllenhaal (b. 1977) is an American actress, filmmaker and producer. She gained recognition for her performances in films such as Secretary (2002), The Dark Knight (2008), Crazy Heart (2009), for which she received a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and The Kindergarten Teacher (2018), which she also produced. The psychological drama The Lost Daughter (2021) marks her directing debut. It won Golden Osella for Best Screenplay at this year’s Venice Film Festival and it will be part of LEFFEST’s Out of Competition section.
