Samnang and his two friends rehearse a hip-hop dance routine for a competition. They live in the White Building, a social housing structure that generations of Cambodians called home, now set to be demolished. Symptomatic of the social instabilities that define modern Cambodia, this event will transform the lives of the local community.

Kavich Neang (b. 1987) is a Cambodian filmmaker who grew up in Phnom Penh’s prominent “White Building”, the center of his most recent film, which was selected for the Official Competition of this year’s LEFFEST. He is also the author of two short documentary films produced by Rithy Panh, A Scale Boy (2011) and Where I Go (2013), the short fiction New Land Broken Road (2018), and the documentary Last Night I Saw You Smiling (2019), winner of the NETPAC Award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
