Poland, 1983. A politically motivated murder case rocks the nation: Grzegorz Przemyk (Mateusz Górski), son of opposition poet Barbara Sadowska (Sandra Korzeniak), student and activist, is beaten to death by police forces. The crime? He refused to show his ID to a policeman (an order he did not have to obey as martial law had already been lifted).

Based on real-life events, Leave No Traces tells the story of the sole witness of this crime, Jurek Popiel (Tomasz Ziętek). Determined to fight for justice, Jurek quickly becomes the victim of persecution by the media, legal and military apparatus of Wojciech Jaruzelski's dictatorial regime that will do everything to discredit him and prevent him from testifying in court.
