Magnolia is a fascinating journey that wanders through interconnecting tales of loss, loneliness and forgiveness, painstakingly painting the complex interweaving of a handful of characters living in the San Fernando Valley. Through his unique observational and character-centred approach, the film undresses trauma and masculinity in a continuous revelation of the fragile skeletons hiding behind the performances that uphold patriarchal archetypes.
