Alex Ross Perry (1984) is a director, screenwriter and actor. He studied Cinema at New York University. His first feature film, Impolex, premiered in 2009. The Color Wheel followed, which premiered in 2011 and was screened at several festivals, such as Locarno Film Festival, having also been nominated for the Independent Spirit Awards. The Color Wheel was considered by several publications to be one of the best films of 2011 with no distribution in the United States, becoming a part of the lists of the prestigious magazine Film Comment and the famous website Indiewire. In 2014, Alex Ross Perry saw his third feature film, Listen Up Phillip, premiere at the Sundance Festival and win the First Prize of the Jury at the Locarno Festival. The film, starring Jason Schwartzman and Elisabeth Moss, is a comedy-drama about a struggling writer. His fourth film, Queen of Earth, premiered this year at the Berlin Festival and, like many of his films, features a screenplay by the director himself. Currently, Alex Ross Perry is considered one of the most innovative voices in new American cinema, and he is also one of the best rated young indie directors.
