Hans-Ulrich Obrist is a Swiss curator and the current Artistic Director of the Serpentine Galleries in London. Since his first show in 1991 “The Kitchen Show”, an exhibition set up in his own kitchen, he has curated over 300 exhibitions. These include a section of the 2003 Venice Biennale called Utopia Station, the event Il Tempo del Postino at the Manchester International Festival 2007 and the 2014 Extinction Marathon: Visions of the Future, a programme that addressed extinction, climate change and the human impact on the world today. He has also been a member of the jury at the 2012 Locarno Film Festival and member of the supervisory board of Manifesta, the European Biennial of Contemporary Art. As a researcher on his own profession, he has also written a book titled A Brief History of Curating in which he maps out the development of the curatorial field through a collection of interviews.
