Historian, Activist, Feminist and Politician

Joacine Katar Moreira is an Historian, Activist, Feminist, Anti-racist and Afro-portuguese politician. Joacine has a degree in Modern and Contemporary History, a Master’s degree in Development Studies and PhD in African Studies at ISCTE-IUL. 
Her academic approach is naturally interdisciplinary and her areas of interest and research are gender issues, history, politics and social and civic movements. Her professional experience reflects this diversity of areas, from working in archives, consulting for non-govermental organizations, coordinating an international exhibition, to the writing of book prefaces, postfaces and the publication of articles and short stories. As a woman and anti-racist activist, issues of equality and social justice are central to her political intervention and the values of Freedom, Ecology, and Democracy.
