Born in Lisbon, she first took an architecture course, before venturing into the world of acting.


In the following years, she joined the cast of several soap operas, such as Sol de Inverno (2012-2014), Poderosas (2015) and Paixão (2017), broadcasted by the television channel SIC.


Nowadays, Joana Ribeiro is a young Portuguese actress best known for her roles in films such as The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (2018), Linhas Tortas (2019) and O Fio de Baba Scarlet (2021).


In 2017, she participated in the series Madre Paula, a television adaptation of the book of the same name, by Patricia Muller.
 
Having always shown interest in theater and cinema, Joana Ribeiro has a diverse and rich curriculum. In 2015, she was the protagonist in the Luso-French drama film A Hora Incerta, directed by Carlos Saboga, and produced by Paulo Branco.  She was also the protagonist in the feature film of the Portuguese director Rita Nunes, Linhas Tortas, in 2019, and, the following year, she joined Um Fio de Baba Escarlate, by Carlos Conceição.


Joana Ribeiro also participated in several international projects such as Terry Gilliam's The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (2018), where she had the opportunity to act with Adam Driver and Jonathan Pryce. In 2019, Ribeiro participated in the pilot episode of The Dark Tower, an Amazon Prime series inspired by the series of books created by American writer Stephen King, and was part of the feature film Fatima directed by Marco Pontecorvo.


Recently, Joana Ribeiro participated in Shadow (2021) by director and screenwriter Bruno Gascon and participated in the science fiction film Infinite, directed by Antoine Fuqua, starring Mark Wahlberg. 


In 2020, he joined the list of ten young European talents selected for the European Shooting Stars programme, an initiative carried out by the European Film Promotion (EFP) during the Berlinale - Berlin International Film Festival.
