Louis Black (USA, 1948) is a producer and an important agent in the Austin film scene – his first promotional activities were probably the cinema nights he helped organizing at his university. He is one of the founders of South by Southwest – the festival that nearly came to never exist –, he was a member of the Austin Film Society and remains one of the editors for the weekly newspaper he co-founded in the 80s – The Austin Chronicle. He has a strong connection to the world of music (SXSW began as a music festival), which shows in the films he has been producing. Fair Sisters (1981), which he co-directed, is one of the short films he restored and it is included in Jonathan Demme Presents. Made in Texas – produced by Black as well.
