Miguel Marías is a Spanish economist and film critic. Since 1992 he has been head of the Studies Service at the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was director of the Spanish Cinematheque  from 1986 to 1988, and of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts from 1988 to 1990. As a critic, he has written for several film magazines such as Nuestro Cine, Banda aparte, Casablanca, Nuevo Fotogramas and Archivos de la Filmoteca, and collaborated in other publications such as the famous El Mondo.
Currently, he writes for numerous online and foreign publications, such as Senses of Cinema, Rouge and Foco. He is the author of books Manuel Mur Oti – Las Raíces del Drama, Leo McCarey – Sonrisas y Lágrimas, Sin Perdón/Manhattan and Otro Buñuel. For ten years, he was a resident collaborator of the famous TVE programme, Qué Grande Es El Cine, and in other similar programs broadcasted by Telemadrid, such as Cine en Blanco y Negro and Querer de Cine.
