Writer, journalist and scriptwriter

Born in 1967 in Portalegre, Rui Cardoso Martins is a writer, journalist and screenwriter, with a degree in Social Communication from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He worked as a journalist for the newspaper Público, co-founded the cultural production company Produções Fictícia and wrote several short stories published in various national and international literary magazines. Rui Cardoso Martins is currently a chronicler in the section O Fio da Meada at Antena 1 and in the chronicle Levante o Réu published in the Jornal de Notícias. Within the film industry, he has written several screenplays, of which, the ones for Duas Mulheres (2009) by João Mário Grilo, Em Câmara Lenta (2012) by Fernando Lopes and the feature film A Herdade directed by Tiago Guedes, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2019. Winner of two Gazeta awards, he is the author of the novels E Se Eu Gostasse Muito de Morrer (2006), Deixem Passar o Homem Invisível (2009), winner of the Grande Prémio de Romance e Novela APE, Se Fosse Fácil Era Para os Outros (2012) and O Osso da Borboleta (2014)
