Salvador Sobral is a Portuguese musician and songwriter. He studied at the prestigious school Taller de Musics in Barcelona, where he specialized in jazz and other modern rhythms. During this period, he explored his musical identity, creating several musical projects and original songs. In 2014, he played in several small venues in Spain and Portugal, a route that eventually led him to perform at Vodafone Mexefest and JazzyColor festivals. In 2016, Sobral released his first album, Excuse Me. One year later, he won Festival da Canção 2017 with the song Amar Pelos Dois, written by his sister Luísa Sobral, which would earn him the victory of the Eurovision Contest of the same year. Soon after, he created the project Alexander Search in collaboration with Júlio Resende, where he interpreted the poetry of Fernando Pessoa’s heteronym of the same name. In 2019 he released his second album Paris, Lisboa as a tribute to the Wim Wender’s 1984 masterpiece Paris, Texas and formed the musical band Alma Nuestra with Victor Zamora, Nelson Cascais e André Sousa Machado. At the start of 2020 he presented a series of concerts in which he performed the songs of legendary Belgian singer Jacques Brel.
