Sandro Resende graduated from Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa. He has been working both as a professor and an artistic director with the patients of Centro Hospitalar Psiquiátrico de Lisboa (CHPL) for around 17 years. In an effort to go beyond the walls of the Psychiatric Hospital, he founded P28, an association that works towards exhibiting works of art in unconventional spaces, such as his Projecto Contentores, where three artists were invited to use a container freely as an exhibition space. He is also responsible for the Júlio de Matos Hospital’s Pavilhão 31, where he teaches painting at the Atelier de Artes Plásticas. In 2015, within the context of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Centro Português de Fotografia, he participated in the exhibition 1/81 at Museu do Côa, contributing with a print made at Atelier CPS.
