Valentyn Vasyanovych (1971, Zhythomyr) is an Ukrainian film producer, director, and DOP. He graduated as a cinematographer and documentary filmmaker from the  the Karpenko-Kary National University of Theatre, Cinema and TV, and he also studied at The Wajda School in Poland. Vasyanovych first gained recognition as a filmmaker with his documentary Against the sun (2004), which won several awards. In 2012, he made his debut feature film Business As Usual, and in 2014 Vasyanovych produced and photographed The Tribe, a film which became the most successful Ukrainian film in recent history and won the Grand Prize at Cannes’ Critics week.  His latest fiction feature, Black Level (2017) was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize in Odessa’s Film Festival.
