Back
Granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin and great-granddaughter of playwright Eugene O’Neill (and sister of fellow actress Carmen Chaplin, who will also be present at this edition of the festival), Dolores Chaplin belongs to a long lineage of artists. Born in London in 1976, she spent her childhood and youth between Spain, Switzerland and France. Dolores received dramatic training in New York with actress Susan Batson and landed her first film role in 1991 in Wim Wenders' futuristic and visionary film Until the End of the World. Currently, her career is divided between the United States, the United Kingdom and France, having already worked with important French filmmakers such as Patrice Leconte, Emmanuel Mouret, Benoît Jacquot (in a television adaptation of The Counterfeiters by André Gide), Jean-Philippe Toussaint or Xavier Beauvois (with whom she filmed, in 2014, her last feature film before reappearing this year, after two short films, in Kader Ayd's Une Revanche à Prendre. But she also worked with Olivier Assayas in Something in the Air (2012) and had a small role in The Counterfeiters, by the Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky, a film that won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2008. She also participated in the music video for the song Modern Times, a tribute that the American rapper J-Five dedicated to her legendary paternal grandfather.
