Art Curator, Writer

Neville Wakefield is an English art curator and writer interested in exploring the ways in which art behaves outside of institutional contexts. An early example of this transposition of art into exciting and provocative intersections happened in 1994 with the seminal Fashion: Photography of the Nineties, the first of many books to map out and narrate the border wars between fashion and art. He has orchestrated and curated various art collaborations focused on the fusion between high art and street fashion as well as with other kinds of commerce. Among others, Wakefield has worked as contributing editor for various books and magazines including AnOther Magazine, ELLE Decoration and Open City. He curated exhibitions such as Any Objections with Mario Testino and created his own shows such as Elevation1049 and Desert X.
