In this feature, we share some highlights of our programme. Here are our suggestions for Friday, 11 November.  

GIMME DANGER, THE PORTRAIT OF A TIMELESS BAND
GIMME DANGER is Jim Jarmusch’s tribute to what he considers to be the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band of all times.  

PETER HANDKE: IN THE WOODS, MIGHT BE LATE 
PETER HANDKE: IN THE WOODS, MIGHT BE LATE is the intimate portrait of a literary figure, a documentary which explores the life and work of the Austrian author, through interviews, quotes, archives and polaroids (on exhibition at the Austrian National Library in Vienna). The filmmaker, Corinna Belz, will be available for a conversation at the end of the session.

JEAN-PIERRE LÉAUD, JIM JARMUSCH, PASCAL BONITZER AND JONATHAN ROSENBAUM AT THE OPENING OF THE SYMPOSIUM GODARD VU PAR... 
Jean-Pierre Léaud, Jim Jarmusch, Pascal Bonitzer and Jonathan Rosenbaum will be present at the Centro Cultural de Belém, on Friday 11, at 3PM, for the opening of the International Symposium, GODARD VU PAR..., dedicated to the discussion of Jean-Luc Godard's work.

CHRISTINE BY ANTONIO CAMPOS, THE REJECTION OF SENSATIONALISM
In 1974, Christine Chubbock, a news anchor, committed suicide during a live news broadcast. Antonio Campos (Afterschool, Simon Killer) deals with the tragic fate of the journalist and what surrounds her.

SCHOENBERG AND BACH BY STRAUB-HUILLET 
The 10th Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival presents a selection of films by Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet whose raw material is Music, particularly Bach and Schoenberg’s music. INTRO TO ARNOLD SCHOENBERG’S “ACCOMPANIMET TO A CINEMATOGRAPHIC SCENE” and MOSES AND AARON.

UNDERGROUND - ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS A COUNTRY: COMEDIC DESPAIR
On November 11th, Emir Kusturica, the famous Serbian director, will be present at the screening of UNDERGROUND – ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS A COUNTRY, for a conversation with the audience at the end of the session.

BLUE VELVET: 30 YEARS OF DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES
This year marks the 30th anniversary of BLUE VELVET, David Lynch. The Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival celebrates the date with the screening of Lynch’s film and BLUE VELVET REVISITED by Peter Braatz, a documentary about the shooting in the shape of a time capsule. After the screening, Peter Braatz will join the audience for a conversation about the film.

ADONIS NO LISBON & ESTORIL FILM FESTIVAL 2016 
The Syrian-born poet, critic and essayist, Adonis, one of the most important Arab poets of our time will be a guest at the 10th Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS OF FRIDAY 11
Highlight to 11 Minut by Jerzy Skolimowski, the winner of last year’s edition of LEFFEST, followed by a conversation with the filmmaker and Dorota Maslowska; Rester Vertical, Alain Guiraudie’s new film; Ornament and Crime by Rodrigo Areias, with a conversation between the filmmaker, the Legendary Tigerman and Rita Redshoes; special session with Robert Schwentke and the screening of his film The Divergent Series: Allegiant.
