Multi-faceted French artist Alain Fleischer will be at the LEFFEST today

The CinemArt section of the LEFFEST, which seeks to show the cinematic work of artists from other fields, is devoted to Alain Fleischer (1944) this year. Active as a writer, director, photographer and visual artist, his work in cinema spans over genres as different as experimental cinema and art documentaries, and it has been shown in the most important film festivals and subject to several retrospectives.

In the field of photography and the visual arts, Felischer has his work displayed often in galleries and museums all over the world. Prolific in writing as well, he has dozens of published books, from novels to essays on photography and cinema, in some of th most prestigious French publishing houses.

Fleischer is internationally acknowledged as the founder of one of the most reputable visual art schools in the world, the Fresnoy Studio, which has welcomed figures from very different horizons; specifically among filmmakers, they include Chantal Akerman, Bruno Dumont, Raul Ruiz and Jean-Luc Godard.

At 2:30 PM, at Espaço Nimas, Fleischer's film Zoo Zéro will be screened, a film that follows Eva, a singer at a Noah's Ark-themed  nigthclub where visitors wear animal masks.

At 4:30 PM, in the same venue, there is a double session with the films Dehors-Dedans and Le Roi Rodin, followed by a masterclass with the multi-faceted artists.
