PASSION SIMPLE BY DANIELLE ARBID & ANNIE ERNAUX’S BOOK LAUNCH AT LEFFEST’20
Back
Official Selection - Out of Competition, Passion Simple by Danielle Arbid is shown this Monday at 2 pm at the Teatro Tivoli BBVA, in
Lisbon, in a special session that crosses the screening with the launch of the
book Passion Simple, by Annie Ernaux, on which the film is based. The director
will be present at the screening which is followed by a debate with the
audience and readings by the actress Catarina Wallenstein. Danielle Arbid presents a film adaptation of the novel of
the same name by Annie Ernaux. A new approach to amour fou, a theme so dear to
French-speaking cinema, in an erotic and formally daring drama.
Launched in 1991, Passion Simple surprised the French
literary scene, breaking the stereotypes of the sentimental romance by its
eroticism and honesty. In her frontal, sharp style, stripped of shame and
judgment, Annie Ernaux blurs the fine line between fiction and autobiography
and puts in the narrator's voice - a cultured and independent woman - the
confidences of the history of a relationship that takes away everything, which thrills
and debases, source of the greatest happiness and the most painful loneliness.
Passion Simple will have a second exhibition with the presence of the director on November 17th, at 7:30 pm, at the Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval, in Sintra.
